I didn’t note when writing my first answer, but noted now that one of the suggested paths for OSX is problematic:

the /usr/* dir space is prohibited area, even for root/sudo (only available to Apple), whereas /usr/local/* is fine. Another thing: didn’t one of the earlier discussions suggest /usr/(local/)share/voikko instead of lib?

That is great, and sorry for not having understood this earlier.

AFAIK, the Windows path is not yet standardised - could we agree to the above path (or any similar path), and make it available for all Windows builds in the same way?
