Almost certainly related to https://github.com/hfst/hfst/issues/328 (
https://bugs.debian.org/827199 and https://bugs.debian.org/826659 )

Basically, the binary formats look completely unportable and thus the whole
I/O layer needs a rewrite. I'm looking into it.
